For care homes and nursing teams
Residents whose hands have closed because of stroke, dementia or another neurological condition need the palm cleaned, dried and protected every day. The Carrot Splint is the device that makes this possible when the hand will not open by itself.
For a home it has practical advantages. It is one device, in one size, for either hand. It is reusable: the Carrot is rinsed in warm soapy water and the cloth cover is hand-washed, and a spare cover is supplied so one is always ready. Staff can use it after a short demonstration, and the markings on the cover give a simple record of how far the hand has opened.
Routine is straightforward. The Carrot is drawn in deflated with the placement wand, inflated two or three squeezes at a time until the fingers lift from the palm, and removed by opening the valve and letting the air out before withdrawing it slowly. The skin is checked every time it is removed.
Buying for a home is straightforward too. Quantity pricing applies from ten kits. We accept purchase orders with 30-day terms for verified organisations and issue VAT invoices. Orders are dispatched from Ireland to all 27 EU countries, with delivery included.
